Welcome to Arts in Special Education! |

Through this web site, I am hoping we can exchange ideas, news, events and information that will assist us as we work to educate and empower our students with disabilities through the arts. Sometimes working with children with special needs may seem overwhelming – after all, often we have children with disabilities included in the typical classroom and want to meet the challenges of each student – and usually there is only one art teacher in a school and we all know that no one but another art teacher can truly understand our joys and concerns. So, I would love to hear from you so we can share wise and proven ways to help each other as we teach our students with disabilities. All children deserve the best that we can be for them.
To keep in mind:
• PAEA Convention: October 23 – 26. Check out the sessions for special needs students
• Friday, November 21st at Kutztown University a conference on Disability Awareness
• The Special Needs column in the NAEA paper by Susan Loesl is always full of good tips and the August article addresses the use of specialized computer programs on Mac and PCs.
I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email via our paea.org contact page. Best wishes for an exciting and rewarding school year. Lynne
