Greetings fellow art educators!
A special welcome to Joy Knepp...
Joy Knepp has joined the PAEA board as a region 6 co-representative!
She is the art teacher in the Shanksville-Stonycreek school district.

~ Art Teacher Field Trip Opportunity~

the trip has been postponed until further notice

You are invited to attend an Art Teacher Field Trip to the Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.  Want to see cutting-edge art from around the world?  The 55th Carnegie International is the exhibition that Andrew Carnegie initiated for showcasing the "Old Masters" of tomorrow.  We will initiate carpools for anyone who would like to attend.  We will be meeting at the museum.  Then you will have lunch on your own at a restaurant of your choice on Craig Street in Oakland.  We will meet back at the museum for a tour of the Carnegie International.  The cost for the tour is $10.50 per person.

If you are interested in attending or would like us to keep you posted on the rescheduled tour date, please contact Joy Knepp  This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it    with your summer contact information.  Thank You!

Event Reminders:

*Future "Art Teacher Night Out" gathering in Somerset county TBA

*The 2008 PAEA Conference will be October 23-October 26, 2008 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel.          ** proposals for a presentation or a workshop are being accepted...click on the conference logo on the homepage to submit a proposal...you must be a PAEA member to submit a proposal.

*NAHS/NJAHS/PA Art Club 2008 Exhibit (Oct. 2008) ~ will be hosted by Messiah College in conjunction with the Conference 2008 in Harrisburg

     * Youth Art Month (March, 2009) - a great time to creatively promote your art program...let your administration, staff & community "see" and even "hear about" what your students are learning/experiencing.  It's never too early to start planning your future YAM activities/events!!

A special thank you to all those who attended the workshops we had in April.  They were both very well received.  It was great to also have the classroom teachers, music instructors and reading specialists in attendance as well.  As art educators we need to be working with teachers in other areas and sharing our ideas for integrating the arts.

Please let us know about any summer arts events happening in and around the region so we can share the creative news with others!
