Charles McAnall Print E-mail
Outstanding Higher Education Art Educator

from the January 2001 PAEA Newsletter

macanall.jpgCharles McAnall is a professor at Cedar Crest College. As a teaching professional his dedication to his students is unequalled. He holds for them the same high standards that he adheres to and they respond with enthusiasm. Charles has a real commitment to providing the highest quality of arts education for his students.

Charles provides incredible energy to his students, motivating them in many ways. He is still teaching and advocating with the same enthusiasm and energy as he was thirty years ago. He has developed the College Community Choir, open not only to students, but also to faculty, and staff as well. It is an attempt to form a true community at Cedar Crest of people bound together by their love of performing. Charles is one of the most actively involved professors on campus. He is a tireless advocate for the arts; he cares not only about his students, but also about all the people in society at large. He sees how the arts are an integral part of a healthy, fulfilling, creative life.

Over the years, Professor McAnall’s participation in PAEA has been outstanding. He has brought an extremely professional attitude to the board and hi opinions are highly respected. He is the chair of the Publications Committee, Editor of the PAEA Newsletter, and member of the Higher Education Division, which he has chaired in the past. Charles is not only the editor; he also functions as writer and photographer.

Charles has regularly submitted topics for presentations to the NAEA and PAEA conferences. He has served on PAEA conference committees, the most recent of which was the highly successful one in Allentown 2000. The extra venues from Cedar Crest College that he arranged for the conferences included special exhibitions and receptions, performances and tours. These events contributed a whole new dimension to the arts.

Charles advocates the teaching of the arts with a passion. He has continually been a spokesperson for the importance of the arts in all areas of his life.
