OUTSTANDING REGIONAL CO-REPRESENTATIVE

Kris Fontes is the Middle and High School Art Educator at Union City Area School District. Fontes is a National Board Certified Teacher and received PAEA’s Outstanding Middle Level Art Educator in 2005.

Fontes has exhibited great commitment to PAEA:

• Has served on the conference committee for the 2006 PAEA conference in Erie.
• Presented her animation workshops at NAEA Chicago and NAEA New York and shared her ideas at PAEA conferences for the last seven years.
• Currently Region 2 Co-Representative to PAEA Board planning activities and opportunities for teachers in her region.
• Involvement in re-designing the new PAEA website.

In 2003 Intel Corporation’s Innovation Odyssey honored Fontes for outstanding Technology Lesson Day 270 for Lego Animations and continues to facilitate learning opportunities that support technology learning by all students. This past summer she taught stop motion animation for three weeks at the Bucks County Community College Kids on Campus program.

She has published her lessons Elegant Art Nouveau & Curious Cabinets ala eBay in School Arts Magazine, CD Op Art Mobile lesson for Arts and Activities Magazine and is a regular contributor to the Incredible Art Department Online Art Resource. Fontes presents Lego animations, lesson plans, tutorials and many student examples on her website www.krisfontes.com.

Fontes will be working next on obtaining her Masters Degree in Digital Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design.
