2007 Award Recipients

OUTSTANDING ART EDUCATOR

Michael E. Rupp, Sr. is the Art and Photography Instructor of 14 years at Fairfield Area School District. He holds his B. S. in Art Education from Kutztown University and Graduate Studies with Millersville University, Wilkes University, Penn State University, and Shippensburg University.

His achievements with PAEA are to be honored:

  • Board member – Pennsylvania Art Education Association
  • PAEA Region 7 Representative & Co - Representative – 2000 – 2003
  • Recipient 2002-2003 Outstanding PAEA Region Representative Award
  • Conference co-chair for the 2004 PAEA Conference
  • Co-President Elect PAEA – 2005 – 2006 and Co-President PAEA – 2006 to present

Michael RuppRupp’s career in the visual arts began in the 1970’s at The Manning’s Handweaving School and Supply Center in East Berlin, Pa. where he managed the business, taught weaving, spinning and vegetable dyeing. Rupp’s gained an extensive background in the fiber arts having spent seven years at The Manning’s Studio.

This experience was followed by two years working in the interior design field for Carn’s Decoration and Service in York, Pa.At this point Michael’s career path turned to the culinary arts asmanager and then a partner in the Jolly Fisherman Seafood Houses in the York, Lancaster, and Harrisburg areas. What can be more creative then the presentation of food?

In 1994, Rupp returned to teaching assuming a position at Fairfield High School and is their present time instructor, advisor for the National Art Honor Society and active in the Scholastic Arts Program at both area and regional levels.
