OUTSTANDING SECONDARY ART EDUCATOR
Sharon Wall is the High School Art Educator at Altoona Area School District where she holds credentials from Pennsylvania State University: B.F.A. in Drawing & Painting, Lithography & K-12 Art Education Certification Wall holds her M.A. in Fibers and Printmaking with Indiana University of PA.
Wall shows strong dedication to PAEA and her devotion to the arts:
- 2001 PAEA Award winner for National Art Honor Society Co-Sponsor of the Year
- 2001 Presenter for “Art for Public Places” Pittsburgh’s PAEA conference
- Grand prizewinner twice for Speedballs’ “Imprint on the World” contest for student art and teacher lesson plans
Since she has created the ‘Art for Public Places’ course for Altoona’s Area School, the walls have become adorned with10 original murals. Her exceptional abilities have traveled outside of the classroom into the community. Wall organized a student’s community service project for Heritage Plaza where student’s painted railroad car window portraits.
Recently, Wall presented an Advocacy Professional Development Program for the arts educators for the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art and in-service program for all secondary art teachers of Altoona Area School District.
Wall has been most applauded for her achievement in the development and design of the Southern Alleghenies Museum of the Art’s arts-in- education programs. This outreach program for the local school districts reaches over 35,000 students in 72 schools throughout 6 counties.
