Outstanding Art Educator

As an outstanding university professor of undergraduate and graduate art education programs, and author and well-traveled speaker and a researcher focused on art criticism and aesthetics in the classroom. Dr. Stewart plays a significant role on the state and national stage.
A full professor of art education at Kutztown University, Dr. Stewart has extensive influence on approximately 200 undergraduates and 80 graduate students. In addition, she has lectured at prestigious universities and museums, including Ohio State University and the Rhode Island School of Design, and was the keynote speaker at art educator conferences in California, Virginia, Arkansas, New Jersey, and Connecticut as well as Pennsylvania.
The author of Thinking Through Aesthetic, Dr. Stewart co-authored three middle school texts and contributed chapters to a number of other books. She edited Art Educator in Practice, a series of seven texts and articles for the publication School Arts.
Dr. Stewart was a Visiting Scholar, and was honored by the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University. She has been a consultant in a wide variety of prestigious forums, including the College Board, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, and the peoples Republic of China. She was also a member of the NAEA Women’s Caucus.
