Theme: Art Shapes the World

Information provided here is also found on the "instructions to submit" PDF above.

Each state will hold a student flag design program addressing a selected theme.

Every art teacher is encouraged to involve your students, from Kindergarten through Grade 12 in designing a YAM flag. You may approach it with your students any creative way you like.

Directions for Participation: Flag designs are to be 6" by 10" in a horizontal format.  Center the design on a larger sheet (9" by 12") to allow for matting. See the template provided.

Please affix on the back of the flag design the following information:

Student's name, age and grade

Student's home address and phone number

Teacher's name and PAEA/NAEA #

School name and address and phone number

Teacher's home phone #

This information is all necessary for further communications.

The design should be in color. It may be created in any medium.  Keep in mind how it would look if reproduced as a 3 x 5 foot flag.

The design should reflect our state theme and display the YAM logo somewhere in the design.  (The logo is on the front of this brochure as well as on the PAEA website).

Postmark on or before January 9, 2010:  Due date for each teacher to send ONE entry to the state selection. Only one design will be accepted from each participating teacher. Please mail in a sturdy mailer with rigid cardboard to prevent creasing.

Mail to:

Mary Elizabeth Meier, YAM Chair

2819 Sigsbee Street

Erie, PA 16508

An independent panel of judges will then select the design to be used for our Pennsylvania YAM flag.
