2025 Conference Proposals are now being accepted!!
For December, PAEA made the decision to honor another Secondary Student due to no submissions for Higher Education. We are delighted to honor Sydney as her words exemplify
Sydeny attends Blackhawk High School and was nominated by PAEA member Ashley Biega.
Here is what Sydney’s teacher, Ms. Biega had to say about her:
“It is a distinct pleasure to nominate Sydney Stanislawski for the PAEA Student Artist of the Month. The depth and breadth of Sydney’s artistic talent and interests are extraordinary. Her outstanding leadership qualities and humility as an artist make her a gem in the classroom. Sydney is always ready to learn more, engage in critique, and perfect her skills. We are very fortunate to have her as a student and hope that continues to find success both as a student and an artist.”
Here is what Syndey has to say:
“Good influence and support are probably the most important things an artist can receive. Luckily, I was blessed throughout the years I’ve been into art and creation. I’ve had the most amazing people around me. Overall, my biggest influence has been my High School art teacher, Mr. Watkins. I’ve learned so much in the small amount of time I’ve been in his class, and each piece I create is shaped from his knowledge and advice. Mr. Watkins has given me so much more than just basic drawing skills. He continues to inspire others to create amazing works of art and he pushes you to do to better than you ever thought you would be able to do.
Without the guidance from my teacher in an art class, I would not be where I am right now regarding art. The helpfulness of having someone explain not only technique but also conceptual ideas is beyond helpful. Art classes allowed me to explore a different part of my brain and be more creative than I ever would have been without them.
One small piece of advice that I would give to artists is to search for other artists who inspire you and share your interests. Join groups that allow you to find others who challenge you and use them to push your skills. Mentally compete with other artists and allow them to propel your progression even further than you intended.”
