December's PAEA Student Artist of the Month is
Henry!
Henry attends Canon-McMillan High School and was nominated by PAEA member Kara Stauffer.
What Kara has to say about Henry:
Henry is intrinsically driven to showcase his artistic skills and creative mind. His reflective mindset allows him to constantly improve and further build upon his original ideas. His artwork is daring, he thrives on trying new techniques, and he is willing to take risks. As a result of him being a risk taker, he is growing as an artist. He is willing to give the additional time needed in order to complete high level drawings. Henry has natural talent and he has set high personal goals to achieve creative and inventive artwork. This combination is a strong recipe for success.
Henry had this to share with other artists:
My biggest influence when creating an artwork comes from music. The way that a song can have such a huge impact on one's emotions is the same effect I aspire for my artwork to have. If I had to pick one musician in particular who inspires my art the most, I would choose someone like Lady Gaga. Her originality, creativity, daring concepts, free spirit, and confidence not only inspire my artwork, but also me everyday.
Art education is extremely important for children of all ages. The years that we are in school are some of the most important years of our lives. They are the years we develop, learn who we are, learn how we feel, and find ourselves. Art is such a powerful outlet for self discovery and expression. Providing kids with a space to be free and let their imaginations run wild, putting down colorful creations on a canvas or sheet of paper can be life changing.
